More on Investment Odds
You may have heard something in the past about implied odds, reverse odds, or “other” terms which all fall under the term investment odds. Investment odds has to do with the amount of chips you believe you can win by the end of the hand. Instead of thinking in terms of pot odds for the next card, you’re predicting how the entire hand will play out. If you’re on a straight or flush draw and hit how much will you win compared to how much you’ll risk. There’s an online calculator for investment odds featured on this website.
Investment Odds
Today we’re going to take a look at something known as investment odds. Investment odds in Texas Hold Em allows you to make certain plays that would be considered more questionable based on pot odds or hand strength alone. Let’s say for example you know your opponent has something like ace king, pocket kings, or something similar. The player you made the good read on has made a raise three times the big blind and another opponent at the table has called. You decide to enter into the hand as well with 10 9 suited to take a look at the flop and decide what to do from there.
Analyzing Queen Seven Suited
I’ve been seeing queen seven suited played a lot more online lately, and now that I have cable again, I noticed there was a PokerStars commercial for tournament play in which there was an “all in” push with queen seven suited so I’m assuming the commercial convinced certain people it was a stronger hand than it really is. Just FYI the commercial was talking about bluffing opponents to steal blinds in tournaments to stay alive, it’s not a hand you want to call all-in’s with. Anyway, here’s the analysis.
Texas Hold Em Probability
Texas Hold Em probability is one of the most important factors in becoming a good player. If you know the probability you’ll hit a hand, you have a better chance at making an educated decision. The easiest way to determine if you’ll make your hand or not is known as the 4-2 rule. If you know how many outs you have to make your hand, outs meaning the number of cards still in the deck that will give you the winning hand, you simply multiply that number by either 4 or 2 and that gives you your percentage to make your hand.
